Various online consultation projects
National Grid is planning a number of new connections and upgrades to existing overhead lines across the UK and has adopted our Open Debate system to make their extensive consultation programme as accessible as possible. So far, we have launched 12 individual online consultations for National Grid since 2010 for projects including the proposed Hinkley Point C, Mid Wales, Bramford to Twinstead Tee and East Thurrock Connections, plus the nationwide Undergrounding consultation.
We work alongside National Grid’s appointed community relations agencies, who are based locally to each of the projects. We recently relaunched a number of the online consultations with a new design and boasting a variety of features including bespoke Google maps of proposed route corridors; timetables for upcoming events; and an extensive reporting system for online and offline feedback.
Visitors to the websites can register to receive email updates and submit any questions, comments or ideas they may have. Each project is supported by our Open Debate system, which records the feedback from visitors into a secure administrative area. National Grid and their community relations teams can log in to the system at any time to see who has registered, send responses to users’ questions or comments and generate reports on feedback.
