Snetterton Biomass Plant, consultation management
In 2011, we were appointed by Iceni Energy Ltd (Iceni) to devise and execute a comprehensive consultation programme for the proposed development of a 40MW straw-fuelled biomass plant near Snetterton village, Norfolk.
The consultation commenced with a newsletter to local residents and businesses, whilst a letter and briefing document was sent to key stakeholders. A press pack was sent to local media and an online consultation website was launched. A public exhibition was held, with separate sessions for the media, councillors, interest groups and the public.
Over 2,300 local residents and stakeholders were engaged with during the consultation, which included traditional face to face activities as well as a bespoke consultation website, powered by our award-winning Open Debate system. The consultation revealed that 50% of respondents were in support of the Snetterton Biomass Plant with a further 23% undecided and only 27% opposed.
With planning consent secured in June 2012, we are looking forward to working with Iceni on future projects.
Consense has the experience and expertise that has enabled them to facilitate an all-encompassing, successful consultation programme for us at Snetterton and they have consistently demonstrated a high level of commitment and dedication to the project.
